(FAQ) 1. Where is Bhutan
Located?
Bhutan is located in the Eastern Himalayas; it is
bordered by Tibet in the North and the Indian states
of Assam and West Bengal in the east, west and
South.
2. What is the Population in Bhutan, and what is
the area of the country?
Bhutan has about 700,000 populations. And the size
of the country is 38,394Sq km.
3. What is the Local Time zone?
Six Hours ahead of GMT and 1hour ahead of IST
4. What kind of Religion you have?
The tantric form of Mahayana Buddhism. The Bhutanese
way of life is greatly influenced by religion.
Everywhere Bhutanese home has a special room used
for prayers which is known as Choesham.
5. Where and how can I get visa?
Visa formalities are done by the Tour operator,
therefore all the visitor has to contact Tour
operator authorized by the Department of Tourism and
Ministry of Trade and Industry.

7. What is the tour payment procedure? Is it
possible to pay with our credit card?
Unfortunately we do not accept credit card. Bhutan
Men-Lha Adventures and Travel will send you an
account details to wire the fund.
8. What is the Tariff to visit Bhutan?
The daily tariff ranges from US$165 to US$180,
varying according to season and size of group and
also with nature of tour. Children under 5 years of
age travels free and those aged 6-12 can travel at
discounted rate on actual tariff. Students under the
age of 25 and for developmates from foreign
embassies/missions can also avail discounts on the
actual tariff.
9. Do we have to pay any extra charges on tariff?
Yes we charge single supplement and surcharge
which is set by the Department of Tourism. US$ 40
per day if you are 1 person and US$ 30 for two
people. If the group size is more than 3 you don’t
have to pay the surcharge extra.
Single supplement charge is US$ 25 only. You will
also have to pay for the Air fare.
10. Which is the nearest airport or country to
visit Bhutan?
Kathmandu (Nepal), Bangkok (Thailand), Dhaka
(Bangladesh), Delhi (India) and Kolkatta (India). We
would recommend you to fly from Kathmandu or Delhi
to Paro Bhutan as the fare is much cheaper comparing
from Bangkok to Paro.
11. If incase we cancel the trip what is the
procedure? On Air fare too?
3 months before 100 % refund
45 days before 75 % refund
30days before 50 % refund
15 to 21 days before 25% refund
1 week no refund will be there.
About the Air fare 1 week before will charge 25$ on
cancellation.
Changing sector and name or issued of wrong name
will be also 25$.
12. What is the free baggage weight?
Business class: 30 kg
Economic Class: 20 kg for adult.
Business class 30 kg

13. What is the altitude range in Bhutan?
Altitude in Bhutan Varies from 180mt to 7,324mt
above sea level.
14. What is your national language?
Our national language is Dzongkha, but we have also
about 14 different local dialogue.
15. What kind of people lives in Bhutan?
We have three main ethnic groups viz Sharchops,
Ngalops, and the Lhotsampa. Bhutanese are friendly
and hospitable people.
16. What is your currency?
Ngultrum is our currency and it has the same value
as the Indian rupee which is also legal tender. One
US$ is roughly equal to 44Nu. Credit cards are
accepted by a few shops and handicraft. It is always
easy and convenient to carry travelers’ cheques .
17. What is your national Sport?
The national sport of Bhutan is archery. Other
traditional sports include: degor – a kind of short
put, dart and wrestling. Today the most
international sports such as soccer, basket ball,
volley ball, tennis and table tennis are becoming
popular.
18. What about the meal, how it is?
Staples diet is red rice, buckwheat, wheat, Maize
(Corn), pork, beef, chicken, yak meat, cheese and
chilies. Which are taken as vegetable and not as
spice? We also have Chinese, western and Thai food
provide by the restaurant and hotel every where in
Bhutan.
19. What kind of dress you wear?
Bhutanese man wear GHO which is longish robes tied
around the waist by a cloth belt known as kera. The
women’s ankle length dress is known as KIRA which is
made of bright colored fine woven fabric with
traditional patterns.
20. What kind of hotels do you have in Bhutan?
Any 5***** and 3 *** hotels?
We have hotels which is (A) grade selected by the
department of Tourism, especially for the tourist.
But we also have Boutique, Aman Resort, Uma Paro.
5***** Zhewaling hotel and Druk Taj only in Paro and
Thimphu.
21. If we want to use 5***** and Boutique during
our trip, do we need to pay extra from the tariff?
Yes you have to pay extra charges if you want to use
the Boutique and 5***** hotel. For details contact
